From the owner:
Welcome to 8924 Olivine St. NE!

For those of you interested in looking at our house, we thought you would appreciate photos that you can double-click on and maximize. This will help you see the home in more detail.

The home is located adjacent to a cul de sac like intersection between Olivine St and Shale. Notice the garage door, front door, and associated trim all have new paint. You can also see the ADT sign in the front lawn. The house is fully configured for a wireless alarm system with two remote entry key fobs. Motion sensors and a glass breakage sensor are also included in the system.

The house opens into a great room that merges the living room, kitchen, and dining area into one fluid space. The hallway flows from the great room as a continuation of the open floorplan. It makes 1210 square feet seem more spacious.

The great room floors are tiled with hand-made Saltillo/terracotta tiles which give a rustic warmth that blends well with Southwestern or Mediteranean decor. Terracotta is also much more comfortable in the winter than ceramic tile. You can walk barefoot year round in this home!

Knot-free yellow pine moulding and six panel doors accent the great room. Door hardware and hinges have been upgraded to oil-rubbed bronze.

The kitchen and dining area are shown here. We have chosen to use the space adjacent to the kitchen as the dining area. We painted the cabinets, added new copper hardware and a new pantry, with roll out drawers, and a corner cabinet. The hood and dishwasher is new and the stove and sink/faucet are about 3 years old. We also upgraded the original formica countertops to cobalt tile and added a few touches of mexican tiles on the backsplash. Nearly every light fixture in the home has been replaced to accent the rustic feel of this quaint home.

All three bedrooms and second bathroom open into the hallway. All bedrooms have new carpet.

The second bathroom has a new countertop height vanity and custom faucet. The mirror medicine cabinet and storage shelf are also new additions.
The Master Bedroom closet and vanity area are shown here. We added a closet organizer with pull-out shoe and sweater drawers. We also replaced the closet doors and all of the molding. The vanity has been painted, the mirror replaced with one that has medicine cabinets imbedded, and the sink and faucet have also been replaced and updated.

This is the backyard where we landscaped and added the brick patio. We have planted wisterias, roses, iris, a grapevine (which yields lots of delicious grapes), and hibiscus. We also added a drip system that feeds the plant ledge and the garden area which features a healthy dwarf peach tree. The hammock and stand stay if the selling price is right!
The house is also energy efficient with double pane vinyl windows throughout, compact flourescents in most light fixtures, R13 walls and R30 roof, insulated garage door, programmable gas furnace thermostat, and an evaporative cooler (digital thermostat controlled) with Updux brand attic ventilation units in the living area and master bedroom. The Updux automatically vent the evaporative cooler through the attic to improve the home's efficiency and security. The windows can be left closed and locked without compromising the cooler's efficiency! A simple plastic sheet is inserted into the Updux during the winter to prevent heat loss through the attic.

Finally, this is a picture from our front yard. One of the greatest things about our house is the location. During Balloon Fiesta we have the best sky view. Our front yard is a ringside seat for the Balloon Fiesta fireworks on the 4th of July. On a clear day you can see all the way to Mt. Taylor from our front window, and our sunset views are incredible. We have great freeway access, tons of shopping and the new North Domingo Baca Park/Community Center. The design includes multi-purpose fields, pool complex, multi-generation facility, library, basketball courts, skate park, off-leash dog park, and tennis courts. Construction is under way!
